A Compliment Paid

Hello and welcome back all,

Again working through back articles and this one is about a month old, lol.

I very rarely get letters like this of people actually being COMPLIMENTED for their play. And outside of the glowing compliment given I want to point one thing in the article. Have a read, then see my comments below.

I know you must get a lot of mail about what is wrong with Gor, and I thought it would be nice to point out something that is right. As a newcomer to this forum I have found that unless you know someone your character is often blatantly ignored in the rooms, not always, but often. Thus, when someone pays attention, even by glancing or making a remark in thoughts it is very much appreciated. One person that is outstanding at this is Jacopo Marenovo.

His RP is exceptional, the kind of RP that might have one believe that he is an elitist as so many others are; however, I have noticed that he makes note of everyone that enters the room. While not everyone can be involved in full blown RP at all times, it is this kind of action, just noticing someone, that makes the overall RP much richer and a more rewarding experience for all.

I hope people follow his example, and learn to realize that just interacting with another char does not mean you have a binding contract for life to play, but it does mean that it opens the door for everyone to have fun. Isn't that what this all is about? RP, to me, is like a woven tapestry where every thread, every layer, adds to the overall product. Acknowledging others give more life, more color to the RP, and could possibly enrich everyone's experience here.

Please, if you do use this, do not include my name. I do not want to seem as if I am sucking up to anyone; however, I do think that the actions of Jacopo mun were worthy of mention.

thank you,
A slave mun

I have noticed this as well. If you don't know someone in Gor, you sometimes have a problem getting in the door with s/ls, unless you travel to Schendi (the current Mecca). Not knocking Schendi at all. I play a citizen there and I love that the city is active and accessible and so well run people want to go there. But there is often a feeling that if you don't come with an rp group already, then you will never make any headway.

So I encourage everyone to prove me wrong. In the public rooms make that effort to play with someone you've NEVER seen before. Try and do it at least once every time you go out. I gaurantee it will open up to players to your group and give players who have never RPed and are in Gor for the first time something to be excited about.

I wish you well.

For tomorrow is another day.

Gortuga/OOC Bullying Revisited

Hello all, once again,

Welcome back to the Grave News. I'm working my way through back articles and here is one that while I've written on it before, bears the need for repeating until people get it in their heads. You cannot control the RP of others through bullying OOC tactics. Lemme repeat that. YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE RP OF OTHERS THROUGH BULLY OOC TACTICS.

The entire reason the bullies online get away with this kind of stuff is that the muns of Gor do nothing to stop it. I think there is a quote that goes, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Stand up for your Gor. I will let the letter below speak for itself.

I know the topic is becoming stagnant and most are tired of hearing about it, but I wish to share something with your readers, Torrin. Tonight, a few of us from Gortuga gathered and began role playing. I play Winnie, the farmer. We also had some... 'guests' as you may call them, one was a captured woman, another was one who walked right into the pirates clutches. We were all laughing and having a good time, even a famous lurker was there and threatening Winnie's tarsk, to eat. Others came to role play, and it was well past 4 am before everyone gave into sleep. I won't mention names, because it would not be fair to them. Not my place either, because I respect the others.

Ok, here is what really bothered me. One from KoRoBa came in and wanted to join in and have fun. No problem! We welcome everyone to come and role play. Unfortunately, this individual was being attacked in IMs from others under Rencor's thumbnail and was feeling as if he/she (won't reveal it) had to leave. We had those who have been around for a long, long, loooooong time enjoying role playing. Haha, revealed yer old people. Ok, back to this one person. It was so bad that this player stopped and left the room. They came back and then one from KoRoBa popped in and out, spying. I have that portion of the room. The player of the character, who came and *wanted* to role play, didn't, and directly told me it was because he didn't want to give Rencor mun reason to kill off his character for no valid in character reason. I call that, bullying. Yes, I know about bullies cause well, I can be one when my ire is lit. Well it is.

So, if anyone wants to come and lurk, or join in, you come on in and if the *bullies* start in, just ignore them. I am neither Disney nor am I going to stand and let some self-inflated egomanic and his goonies harass others. Been around too long for that. Time to put the dictator in his place. In the trash that will be collected this week.

Happy Gaming Everyone!
Remember, YOU control your character and what happens to them, not anyone else. You have patent rights, in a sense, over it.
Thanks Torrin, love the paper!

I wish you well.

For tomorrow is another day.
