Hello and welcome back all,
Again working through back articles and this one is about a month old, lol.
I very rarely get letters like this of people actually being COMPLIMENTED for their play. And outside of the glowing compliment given I want to point one thing in the article. Have a read, then see my comments below.
I know you must get a lot of mail about what is wrong with Gor, and I thought it would be nice to point out something that is right. As a newcomer to this forum I have found that unless you know someone your character is often blatantly ignored in the rooms, not always, but often. Thus, when someone pays attention, even by glancing or making a remark in thoughts it is very much appreciated. One person that is outstanding at this is Jacopo Marenovo.
His RP is exceptional, the kind of RP that might have one believe that he is an elitist as so many others are; however, I have noticed that he makes note of everyone that enters the room. While not everyone can be involved in full blown RP at all times, it is this kind of action, just noticing someone, that makes the overall RP much richer and a more rewarding experience for all.
I hope people follow his example, and learn to realize that just interacting with another char does not mean you have a binding contract for life to play, but it does mean that it opens the door for everyone to have fun. Isn't that what this all is about? RP, to me, is like a woven tapestry where every thread, every layer, adds to the overall product. Acknowledging others give more life, more color to the RP, and could possibly enrich everyone's experience here.
Please, if you do use this, do not include my name. I do not want to seem as if I am sucking up to anyone; however, I do think that the actions of Jacopo mun were worthy of mention.
thank you,
A slave mun
I have noticed this as well. If you don't know someone in Gor, you sometimes have a problem getting in the door with s/ls, unless you travel to Schendi (the current Mecca). Not knocking Schendi at all. I play a citizen there and I love that the city is active and accessible and so well run people want to go there. But there is often a feeling that if you don't come with an rp group already, then you will never make any headway.
So I encourage everyone to prove me wrong. In the public rooms make that effort to play with someone you've NEVER seen before. Try and do it at least once every time you go out. I gaurantee it will open up to players to your group and give players who have never RPed and are in Gor for the first time something to be excited about.
I wish you well.
For tomorrow is another day.

(Also, I am accepting articles to be published in the paper. I am taking any sort of editorials on Gorean roleplay, logs of improper Gorean play, crossing, or un-Gorean characters of play)
